What is a Cottagers Association?
Well, Cottagers Association is a membership of fellow cottage owners on any given lake.
It is a nonprofit organization and the association is a united voice. These associations have a common goal, the improvement of that particular lake and your experience on that lake. The mission of most cottage associations is the same and I’ll touch on those three points.
1. The Cottage Association want to enhance the enjoyment of the lake they represent for now and for future generations.
One major goal is communication.
Communication among the association comes in the form of a paper newsletter, e-newsletter, or just a website.
2. An organization of events promoting the spirit of the community. So something like regattas on the lake when it was norm before Covid. Hopefully, as we recover, regattas will once again return.
What is a regatta?
The regatta definition is a rowing speedboat or sailing race or such a series of races. So, basically having a fun competition on the lake against fellow
cottagers.
3. Lake Protection – Cottage Association sponsors the education of environmental issues, they take in monitoring water quality through sampling and they have a voice at the table among local councils.
Ultimately, a cottage association’s purpose is for improvement. Improvement of the community of the environment, the safety and security of everyone who owns a cottage on that lake.
If you buy a cottage, get involved!
