Chemong Lake

Lake Chemung is the First Nations spelling of the lake. The word chemung means muddy place. This is simply a description of the wetland’s existence before the Trent-Severn structures raised water levels. Stretching almost nine miles in length, the lake was a major obstacle when traveling for early settlers before there were roads or bridges built.

There is a concrete public boat launch located on the west end of the causeway. The max depth is approximately 6.4m 21 (feet) the average depth 3.3m (10.6 feet) and the surface area is approximately 2476.2hectors (6119 acres).

The city of Peterborough only about 15 minutes away, making entertainment and shopping easily accessible.

Major fish species include small and largemouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, Carp, and Muskellunge.

There are events and festivals going on year-round.
